Documenting Your Child’s Homeschool with a Keepsake Journal (10:15-11:15 am)
When it comes to documenting your homeschool on a daily basis, you need a quick and easy way of organizing your records and planning your future. In this Make & Take Workshop, we will teach you an organized way to document your days, months, and years in an attractive customized journal for each child — and we’ll show how you can teach your children to do the documenting! You’ll not only gain accurate documentation of your child’s education, it will also become a keepsake to enjoy for years to come. Bonus: all attendees will receive a USB drive with customizable templates so you can print and bind your own journal.
Math Made Easy by the Master: 4-Group Math Method (2:30-5:30 pm)
Participants receive hands-on math manipulatives ($40 value) and learn the unique, evidence-based concept that shows how ALL children can be successful in math! The 4-group Math concept is a consistent, coherent, and additive visual model which enables all students to compose and decompose numbers in their working memory, arriving faster to fact fluency. Learn about the innate God-given ability of ALL children to subitize (know with accuracy and confidence, instead of just memorize) four objects arranged in a square pattern. Apply this knowledge to develop number sense in your children in a fun, engaging, and developmentally-appropriate way! Developing a Biblical Vision and Mission Statement (10:15-11:15 am)
Developing a mission statement for your life, for your family, and for your home creates a powerful tool that gives you, the parent, biblical clarity and direction. In this Make & Take Workshop, we will work with you to develop ideas and statements unique to your family that provide inspiration and steps to take that will spur your family on towards living together with a biblical focus. Learn how reviewing your vision and mission statements as a family will bring your family unity and decision for course corrections through the years. Learn the foundation, brainstorm your own family’s unique viewpoint, and then leave with a template and ideas for implementing your own.
Math in the Fast Lane — Multiplication Made Easy (11:30-1:30 pm)
Multiplication fact fluency is a foundational tool for success in future mathematical concepts. The methods in Multiplication Made Easy enable all students to learn their multiplication facts, arriving fast and confidently to fact fluency up to 12 x 12. In this Make & Take Workshop, you’ll get personal help for teaching these methods, plus you’ll receive a copy of Multiplication Made Easy.

Objectively Evaluating Your Student’s Writing (2-3 pm)
You want your student to become an outstanding communicator, but how do you objectively evaluate their essays and reports? Whether you are a pro at English composition or embarrassed by your own writing, the truth is you CAN effectively – and objectively – evaluate and grade your student’s writing. This Make & Take Workshop will cover simple tools and rubrics that will help you overcome parental bias and master the art of objective evaluations, with time for practice and Q&A.
Using Hands-on Activities to be a More Effective Teacher (3:15-4:15 pm)
Hands-on activities with rich content are a great way to activate brain activity and are especially effective for certain types of learners; when multiple areas of the brain are active during learning activities, it can lead to better retention and recall. Come to this Make & Take Workshop to understand more about how we learn and become a better teacher! You will learn how to incorporate hands-on activities into your teaching while learning about the basic anatomy of the brain. You will construct a paper “hemisphere hat” that shows the major lobes of the cerebrum and demonstrates the effectiveness of hands-on activities, and also learn where to find free craft downloads for hands-on activities for many subjects.
